BA/BS in Chemistry

The Chemistry major gives students grounding in the main branches of chemistry, from analytical and inorganic to organic and physical, plus biochemistry, together with courses in biology, math and physics. The American Chemical Society certifies the major. Every major completes faculty-supervised research as a capstone, and summer research is also available. Many students present at regional and national conferences and co-author papers in peer-reviewed journals. Two concentrations are offered. The American Chemical Society concentration prepares students for graduate school, health professions or laboratory careers in industry and government. The Chemistry Management concentration combines business and economics with chemistry for sales and management roles. Alumni work at employers such as Merck, Pfizer and state police laboratories. Prospective students can request information, meet the faculty and browse the course catalog from the program page, then follow the college's steps to apply and become a Blue Jay at Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
