BA/BS in Chemistry

This degree carries certification from the American Chemical Society. It prepares students for postgraduate work or for jobs as chemists in industry or government, or as secondary school teachers. Students can join faculty members in research labs, and some present findings at national conferences or publish in chemistry journals. Many instructors have interdisciplinary training and teach across areas. An honors option involves a thesis research project. Combined pathways allow strong students to begin graduate study early toward an MS in Chemistry or an MS in Forensic Science. Graduates may become chemical technicians, materials scientists or environmental technicians. Chemistry students benefit from small research groups and faculty with interdisciplinary expertise.
