This master's degree readies graduates for work in government, business and international organizations, and it can also lead into doctoral research. Students are encouraged to add a regional certificate from the arts and sciences college, such as African-New World, Asian, Latin American and Caribbean, or Transnational and Regional Studies.
Entry is selective. Candidates need an accredited undergraduate degree and a strong grade point average from their final undergraduate years or from graduate study. Applicants educated abroad must be academically cleared for more study in the nation that awarded their degree.
Non-native English speakers must send a TOEFL or IELTS score. A graduate program handbook lists the complete degree requirements. Because the program is both preparation for work and a route into doctoral study, students can shape their courses toward either a professional or an academic direction.
