AA/AS in Biology, General

The Biology associate degree at Genesee Community College is an Associate in Science program for students curious about how living things function. Classes move from cellular work in the laboratory to community and ecosystem study in the campus woods and in science laboratories elsewhere. Students study biology, chemistry and math while completing general education requirements. They learn to carry out scientific investigations, record results, interpret data and design solutions to scientific problems through planned procedures. The curriculum transfers smoothly to most SUNY institutions and many private colleges, so graduates can continue toward a bachelor's degree in biology or a related field. The college also directs students to Career Services and transfer advising. Faculty guide students through laboratory and field investigation, helping them connect classroom concepts to living systems they can observe directly.
