The BS in Public Administration builds knowledge of governance, policy analysis and management. Graduates are prepared to guide change and serve the public through nonprofits, law, advocacy for policy, or federal, state and local government.
Graduates also gain a base for graduate study in management, business, law, policy, international affairs and development. Students can narrow their focus with one of eight optional concentrations. The degree requires at least 120 credits and begins with introductory government courses on democratic theory, American government and international politics. The Schar policy school administers the program.
Prospective undergraduates should review the full degree requirements in the George Mason University catalog, which lists the courses, policies and any concentrations, and speak with an academic advisor early to plan a path that fits their interests and timeline.
