BA/BS in Design and Applied Arts

This on-campus program teaches students to apply art and design principles to produce appealing, unified work that meets a client's requirements. Classes begin from the idea that humans create to honor and mirror their Creator. Alongside technique, the faculty respect the mystery behind creating and treat it as a spiritual practice. Students explore what gives professional design its force. Their projects are judged on visual appeal and also on how well each serves its purpose. Fundamentals of art and design occupy the first half of the degree, while the second half applies them in studio courses. The degree concludes with a senior thesis portfolio, presented at a public exhibition, which gives graduates finished work to show prospective employers and clients.
