Program details

Overview

Historians trained in this program become both capable researchers and dedicated instructors. Along the way students take courses, prepare for a general examination, work as teaching fellows, then investigate and write a dissertation under the guidance of advisors and other faculty. Finishing usually takes a number of years. Most alumni have taken academic jobs at colleges and universities in America and elsewhere, while others have built careers in law and public service. The degree is conferred through the Griffin Graduate School (GSAS), where applications are submitted. Related offerings include the college's undergraduate concentration, which combines rigor with flexibility, and part-time liberal arts degrees from the continuing-education division. The program page pairs a short summary with links to learn more and to apply. It does not publish tuition, duration or deadline information, so applicants should confirm those details with the admitting school before planning.
