Program details

Overview

Agribusiness is a sequence within the agriculture major that links farm and food production with economics, finance and business coursework. Coursework is split between the agriculture department and business classes elsewhere on campus. Graduates pursue careers selling and financing agricultural products, marketing grain and livestock, managing farms and running food companies. Registered student groups focused on agricultural marketing and farm bureau work add practical experience outside class. Prospective students can join an on-campus or virtual visit and meet representatives from the academic department, the honors program and financial aid. Illinois State encourages applying before its priority date, which improves the chance of full consideration for the major and for scholarship funding. First-year and transfer applicants each follow their own application path, and current students have a separate route for questions about their plans. A request-information form lets families ask the department for more detail before applying.
