BA/BS in Anthropology

The Archaeology and Applied Anthropology BS explores human life from prehistory to the present, through human biology, archaeology and language alongside related fields like history. It prepares graduates for museums, consulting firms and nonprofits. Hands-on activities include forensic study of human remains, digital mapping, and analysis of life histories, along with lab sessions, field trips and internships. They examine cultures, languages and archaeological remains from around the world. Electives can be selected broadly or focused on a particular area. The Department of Earth and Environmental Systems provides faculty with field and scholarly experience, and students can join faculty-led research and fieldwork in small classes. The degree prepares students for careers that interpret objects and places from the past, including work in museums, consulting and nonprofit organizations.
