BA/BS in Communication and Media Studies

The Media & Communication major at Iona University leads to a Bachelor of Arts and was previously titled Media & Strategic Communication. Students work with current digital tools and are taught by faculty who have professional backgrounds in the industry, preparing them for roles in film, television, public relations, advertising and journalism. Iona's New Rochelle campus lies a short distance from Manhattan, which supports networking with alumni and gives students access to internship placements. Learners pick between two concentrations, one centered on digital production and one on public relations. Those aiming at sports broadcasting can pursue a combined bachelor's and master's route in sports media that spans five years, and a minor in the subject can be combined with a different major. Courses combine creative production with strategic thinking about audiences.
