Program details

Overview

Behavioral biology students build a foundation across three areas: the life sciences, including animal behavior and evolution; natural science and mathematics, such as biology, chemistry and statistics; and social and behavioral science, such as psychology and anthropology. Each student plans specific courses with a faculty advisor. Courses used toward the major must earn at least a C-minus and cannot be taken pass/fail. Fifteen or more credits need to be at the upper level, 300 and above. Hopkins undergraduates can join the program whenever they like, so long as the requirements can be completed by graduation. There is also a six-credit writing and communication component, satisfied through a required laboratory on animal behavior or behavioral evolution plus one elective designated for writing.
