The Associate Teacher Skill Certificate is a short program that prepares students to assist professional teachers in the classroom. It builds a foundation in how children grow, develop and learn in early education. Graduates are ready to help with lesson plans and support children's learning. Units earned here can be applied toward a degree later, and the Child Development department can advise on continuing to an associate or four-year program. Before the first class, students meet with an academic counselor to build a Student Education Plan and to match the Associate Teacher program to their career or transfer goals.
