BA/BS in Communication and Media Studies

Communication Studies majors at Marshall complete the general and specific requirements of the Bachelor of Arts degree. The major focuses on how people create and interpret messages in personal, organizational and public settings. Certain introductory speech and business communication courses count toward general education but cannot be applied again to the major, so students plan their schedules with both lists in mind. The program is housed in the liberal arts programs of the undergraduate catalog. Marshall publishes the full course requirements, the general education core and the sequencing of major courses in its online undergraduate catalog. Students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to plan each term, confirm prerequisites and see how the major fits with minors or electives they may wish to add.
