Overview
This environmentally minded architecture degree centers on how design shapes physical, social and ecological systems. Students examine the meeting point of aesthetics and sustainability while getting ready for careers in architecture, urban planning and allied disciplines.
Coursework is organized around a sequence of design studios that grow in complexity and finish with an integrative building design project. Technology classes cover structural behavior, building environments, renewable power approaches and passive techniques for energy-wise buildings, and representation courses build hybrid drawing and modeling skills. Electives explore subjects including community design-build, urban ecologies worldwide, detailing, lighting and materials.
Every student spends a semester abroad in Florence, Italy. The program suits those who want to apply design to pressing environmental challenges. Students interested in the program can request information, visit the campus or apply through the program page.
