BA/BS in Biology, General

Biology is presented here as the study of life from single cells to whole ecosystems. The Bachelor of Science gives students a broad introduction to the biological sciences resting on math and physical science fundamentals. After the foundation, students pursue advanced work in a chosen specialty. Learning outcomes include designing experiments, analyzing quantitative data, using lab techniques such as microscopy and spectrometry, and reading and communicating scientific literature. Graduates can enter careers from clinical care and food science to public health, biotech and conservation, or continue to professional and graduate school. The university is accredited and belongs to the Minnesota State system. Undergraduates apply through the system's shared application, then declare the major once any added admission conditions are met. Advisors within the relevant college help students plan their courses, and anyone considering the program can ask for more information or tour the campus first.
