AA/AS in Design and Applied Arts

Students in this associate degree explore how visual communication is produced for print and screens, including materials for books, periodicals, websites and marketing campaigns. Additional applications cover store displays, product packaging and billboards. With online tools making it easier to find clients anywhere, graduates may work for agencies, businesses or nonprofits. A professional portfolio is created during the program, and a production artist diploma can be earned en route to the degree, which totals 64 credits. The program can be taken online or in person, via the Downtown Milwaukee and Online campuses, with entry in August or January. Creative problem-solving, typing and a solid grasp of algebra and geometry are all helpful. Prerequisites apply to the program, and curriculum requirements are subject to change.
