The cosmetology diploma prepares students for work as licensed cosmetologists and meets the standards set by the state agency that regulates the trade. Graduates become eligible for the state board licensing examination. Training includes many hair treatments, nail care and client service. Success depends on good speaking and listening, cooperation, organization, time management and manual dexterity. An artistic eye and the ability to imagine finished hairstyles help, and students must work quickly under pressure while promoting products and services.
