AA/AS in Sociology

Sociology at Mt. San Jacinto College is the systematic study of social institutions, groups, collective behavior and change. Students explore how individual lives connect to wider society, with attention to gender, class, race, ethnicity and other characteristics. The program prepares students for university transfer, a range of careers, or personal growth. A variety of research approaches is introduced so learners can better understand how social forces shape daily experience at home and abroad. A faculty contact is listed on the department page, which also links to course descriptions and the degree and certificate options in sociology. Mt. San Jacinto College operates campuses at San Jacinto and Menifee Valley. Prospective students should speak with a counselor or the department contact to plan coursework, confirm current requirements and check class schedules before enrolling.
