The dance program at Mt. San Jacinto College welcomes people from varied backgrounds who want to build a path in dance. Courses cover modern and contemporary, jazz, ballet, hip hop and tap, plus world forms styles, along with choreography, improvisation, performance and history.
Students study each genre with attention to how race, class and gender appear in its history. The program aims to build critical and creative thinking and more expressive bodies.
Options include a certificate and a transfer degree, and graduates may teach, perform, choreograph, direct, work in dance therapy or write about dance. Classes count toward local degree and general education transfer requirements, and all experience levels are accepted.
Mt. San Jacinto College operates campuses at San Jacinto and Menifee Valley. Prospective students should speak with a counselor or the department contact to plan coursework, confirm current requirements and check class schedules before enrolling.
