BA/BS in Computer Science

Muskingum University offers a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science that pairs a technical grounding with room to explore newer areas of computing. Students can look into web and mobile development, game programming in three dimensions, immersive virtual reality, as well as machine learning and robotic systems. Faculty guide students through hands-on programming projects, including website design, mobile apps with location awareness, graphics, animation and human-computer interaction. The department also points to computer security as a growing area of study, and students can use virtual and augmented reality equipment on campus. Graduates typically follow one of three routes: employment in industry, teaching at the middle or secondary level, or further study at graduate school. Internship preparation connects students with employers and laboratories where early experience can lead to later jobs. Small classes and close contact with professors support students throughout the major. Small classes and close contact with professors support students throughout the major.
