MA/MS in Romance Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics

Offered by the department devoted to French literature, thought and culture, this master's degree sits within a unit that teaches French and Francophone language, literature and civilization to both graduate and undergraduate students. Each year the department welcomes eminent visiting professors, and their presence stands out among its graduate offerings. Students can select among about two dozen courses and seminars annually. Enrollments stay modest, so students work closely with faculty, and invited scholars lead short seminars as well. Spending a semester or more at NYU's center in Paris is strongly encouraged, where classes are taught by French university professors together with NYU faculty. To apply, candidates send the standard Graduate School of Arts and Science materials, such as transcripts, personal statements and recommendation letters.
