Program details

Overview

NDSU's graduate program in extension education leads to either a Master of Science or a Master of Education. It is designed for people who want careers in the Cooperative Extension Service or in other community-focused teaching roles. Coursework covers program development, teaching strategies, research methods and ways of delivering knowledge from the university to the public. Teaching methods in agricultural education and STEM subjects receive particular attention. The program can be completed on campus or online, which makes it workable for professionals who are already employed. A graduate certificate in the same field is also offered. Departments provide graduate assistantships to help with the cost of study. Each student works with a dedicated academic advisor to shape a personalized plan toward career goals. Applicants can arrange a conversation with a graduate admissions representative about costs and requirements, and funding through assistantships is available in many departments.
