Overview

The animal science major at NDSU is a science-based degree that prepares students for work in livestock production, agricultural business and biomedical fields. Students study physiology, nutrition, genetics, reproduction, marketing and management. Students can steer the degree toward their goals through three tracks, which focus on livestock production and care, biomedical science, or the business side of animal industries. Practical experience with livestock is part of the learning experience. Graduates support industries concerned with animal care, health and the production of animal products. The program is taught on campus, a minor is available, and a graduate program offers a route to further study. Each student is paired with a dedicated academic advisor who helps build a personalized plan around individual goals. Scholarships based on need or merit are available, and prospective students can request more information or schedule a campus visit before applying.
