Program details

Overview

NDSU's graduate programs in plant sciences provide advanced academic and research training at the Master of Science and doctoral levels. Subject areas include plant breeding and genetics, weed science, biotechnology and field crop management. Students gain hands-on experience with real-world applications. Small numbers of students per faculty member allow close collaboration and personal mentorship from experts in their fields. The master's program is taught on campus, and a graduate certificate is also offered in the department. Graduates have gone on to meaningful work in science and agriculture, supported by the land-grant mission of giving back to the community. Each student works with a dedicated academic advisor to shape a personalized plan toward career goals. Applicants can arrange a conversation with a graduate admissions representative about costs and requirements, and funding through assistantships is available in many departments.
