BA/BS in Human Resources Management and Services

The human resource management major at Oakland University prepares students to run the personnel functions of an organization. It is aimed at careers in administration, personnel management and labor relations. The program stresses the concepts and methods used to recruit, develop and make use of an organization's people, with coverage of psychology applied to staffing, administering personnel, and relations between labor and management, supported by organizational behavior. The degree is certified by the Society for Human Resource Management, which also treats it as an academically aligned program. Some courses can also be taken in a faster eight-week format offered at the Macomb University Center. Students can review major requirements and contact the faculty adviser listed on the program page. The curriculum pairs a strong business foundation with specialized personnel training, so graduates are ready for roles in recruiting, development and organizational management.
