BA/BS in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics

Classical Studies at Ohio Wesleyan covers the ancient Greek and Roman world through language, literature, history, mythology, archaeology and philosophy. Students are trained in Greek and Latin and read major classical authors, from Homer and Virgil to Herodotus, Thucydides, Cicero and Plato, in the original rather than in translation. Majors are encouraged to continue with both languages through the advanced level. The training in careful reasoning and analysis prepares graduates for many careers, and many go on to graduate programs or to law and medical school. Students can collaborate with faculty on scholarly projects and pursue summer research travel from early in the program. Study in Greece or Italy is available through several established institutes. These experiences complement classroom study of the ancient world.
