AA/AS in Human Services, General

Human Services at Onondaga Community College prepares students for work helping others, in fields such as social work, counseling, case management, and direct support. Students explore the service professions, strengthen professional communication, and take part in service-learning projects in the community. Two tracks lead to the degree: Social Work/Counseling and Direct Support Professional. Each track includes a field internship. Graduates work for both public and private organizations among them hospitals, clinics, and schools, and some continue toward a bachelor's degree elsewhere. Instruction takes place in person. As a transfer program, it is aimed at students who plan to finish their studies at a four-year school. Prospective students can request information, schedule a visit, or talk with college staff before applying, and financial aid specialists are available to explain how to pay for study.
