AA/AS in Human Services, General

Students prepare for work in counseling, advocacy and case management, the skills that many social service agencies look for. Immersive courses and a supervised internship provide real exposure to crisis intervention and social policy. Employers are increasingly seeking people to support mental health, youth services and community programs. Graduates of this degree can step into that workforce or transfer their credits to a four-year school to continue toward a bachelor's degree. This is a transfer-oriented associate of science degree at Tompkins Cortland Community College, built to cover the opening two years of a four-year program. It follows a defined course sequence, and students work with an advisor to match electives to the school they intend to attend. Graduation requires 61-63 credits and a 2.0 GPA or higher.
