AA/AS in Human Services, General

This degree gives students a grounding in social work and in the behavioral and social sciences, readying them for entry-level generalist roles. Methods courses and a practicum placed with community social service agencies tie the academic material to real practice. Instructors are licensed professionals with training in the field. Its standards are sufficient for certification as a Social Work Assistant, which a state board for counselors, social workers and family therapists administers. The program is built around Ohio requirements. Students intending to work in another state should confirm what that state demands, since rules elsewhere may include background checks or drug screening that the coursework does not address.
