Prairie View A&M University awards a Bachelor of Science in chemistry through its Department of Chemistry, located in the Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences. Treated as a central science, chemistry links with mathematics, engineering and medicine, and the department builds its curriculum around that breadth.
Students choose among three concentrations: biomedical science, forensic science, or the traditional chemistry path. The program carries ACS accreditation. Teaching happens in classrooms equipped with multimedia tools and in modern laboratories, where instruments serve both coursework and research. Faculty expertise covers analytical, environmental, inorganic, organic, physical and biochemistry, and instructors work closely with undergraduates, including through research projects.
Most majors stay in chemistry-related work after graduating. Some enter graduate programs in chemistry, biochemistry or medicine, while others move into industrial research or the biomedical sciences. Aspiring physicians, researchers, teachers and chemical-industry professionals are among those the program prepares. Qualified majors may apply for scholarship support by contacting the department.
