BA/BS in Political Science and Government

Prairie View A&M University's Political Science Program, part of the College of Public Affairs and Societal Impact, provides the curriculum for the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. It prepares graduates for work in public and private organizations and for graduate or professional study. The program is staffed by scholars active in research and service. Its courses form part of the university core curriculum, count toward the major, and serve as electives for students drawn to American politics, international affairs and public policy. Graduates are expected to show skill in critical thinking, problem solving and oral and written communication. Learning outcomes ask students to explain the principles and theories of the discipline, produce well-researched work, and analyze major domestic issues in law, public policy and public administration. Curricular and co-curricular activities aim to develop global citizens committed to lifelong learning.
