The Computer Information Systems B.S. centers on applying technology to handle information in a business context. Graduates learn to design, analyze, run and oversee systems so that decision makers always have what they need.
Core courses include business programming, analyzing and designing systems, operating systems concepts, database management, networking and data communications, and managing projects. Each student then selects five courses to concentrate on one chosen area of information technology.
Practical lab-style learning teaches students to design data networks, organize and store data and protect networks. Faculty are working professionals with industry and research experience, and students gain a clear view of how information systems serve organizations. The program holds ABET accreditation through its computing commission and is delivered on campus by the university's data and technology school.
