Program details

Overview

The Accounting Certificate prepares students for entry-level positions that involve updating and maintaining accounting records and calculating discounts and related figures. Students learn to sort, analyze and interpret business transactions that can be measured, building practical bookkeeping habits that employers expect from new accounting staff. Certificate students are expected to arrive with basic arithmetic, reading and writing ability. The catalog lists the required courses and the learning outcomes graduates should be able to demonstrate when they complete the sequence. Completing it adds a recognized credential to a resume. Because the credential is career focused, it can serve adults changing fields or act as a path toward a related associate degree at the same college. Students should review the catalog course list and speak with a counselor to plan their sequence.
