AA/AS in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities

This Santa Ana College Liberal Arts emphasis explores the cultural, literary and artistic expression of human beings. Students evaluate how people in different eras and cultures have responded to themselves and the world through art and culture. Students build aesthetic understanding and apply it when forming value judgments. One course each from arts, humanities and communications must be among the 18 units chosen. The emphasis may interest students heading toward art history, communications, dance, deaf studies, English, languages, music, philosophy, studio art, teaching or theatre arts. This is an associate-level program at a public community college, so it can serve students who plan to enter the workforce as well as those continuing to a four-year university. The college page links a program map and a catalog entry for planning courses, and students are encouraged to talk with a counselor to confirm how the degree fits their goals.
