AA/AS in Anthropology

Anthropology is an associate degree that treats people broadly, looking at our biology, societies and past. Department courses follow how humankind has changed over time, including cultural practices, behavior, belief systems and where we come from. Students gain a view of anthropology as a whole and of the ideas of culture and biology that working anthropologists use. They learn why the field is seen as part science and part humanities, explore its four branches, and examine how sex, gender and race are constructed biologically and socially. Prospective students can review the sample program map for anthropology on the college degree planning site, which lays out the course sequence and the units needed to graduate, and should confirm admission steps, costs and scheduling with the college before enrolling.
