AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

Santa Monica College offers this accounting pathway to people already working as bookkeepers or accounting clerks who want to move to a more advanced professional position. Business owners are also named as a group who can use the coursework to manage their own finances better. The catalog lays the courses out over three semesters, beginning with an introductory business class and continuing into financial accounting. Students follow the listed order and may add general education and elective courses, and an academic counselor can adjust the plan to fit individual circumstances. The award is an Associate in Science. Associate degrees at the college generally carry a Global Citizenship requirement, which students can meet through a general education course.
