BA/BS in Applied Mathematics

The Data Science and Applied Mathematics major prepares students to use data and mathematical reasoning on complex problems. Students pick up core computer science skills and put them to work in hands-on settings, including projects that tackle needs in the local community and surrounding region. Both data science and mathematics are growing areas, and employers need people with these abilities. Graduates enter the workforce with stronger quantitative reasoning and practice handling datasets and code. One student describes analyzing ocean temperature change by combining data analysis with programming. Many students add a computer science minor. The page also directs students to the career and professional development office for internship help and job search support, so graduates can connect classroom learning to employment.
