AA/AS in Criminal Justice and Corrections

The Criminal Justice Technology associate degree at South Florida State College is designed to prepare students for entry-level jobs in the criminal justice field. The curriculum combines general education with introductory criminal justice courses. Required courses cover topics such as corrections, criminal behavior, criminal law, juvenile justice, law enforcement, community relations, crime scene investigation and criminal investigations. Students also complete core requirements in humanities, mathematics, natural sciences, psychology and speech, and choose electives within criminal justice. The degree totals sixty credit hours and is offered at the Highlands Campus and as an online program. Graduates are positioned for entry-level employment, and the program gives students a broad grounding in how the justice system operates, from investigation and evidence through courts and corrections, before they decide on a specialty or continue their studies elsewhere.
