AA/AS in Biology, General

Biology at South Plains College is aimed at students curious about living organisms and how they evolved. Many hope to become physicians, nurses, pharmacists, wildlife officers, teachers or professional biologists. Completing the course of study leads to an Associate of Science degree, with classes chosen so they carry over to a bachelor's program elsewhere. The department also points students toward related tracks in pre-nursing, wildlife management and preparation for health professions. On campus, students can use a greenhouse, a learning center with study rooms and anatomy models, a science club and tutoring. Transfer guides are published for several nearby universities, among them Texas Tech, Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M. Department advisors are available to answer questions from interested applicants.
