AA/AS in Criminal Justice and Corrections

This Associate of Arts addresses the criminal justice system, including law enforcement, the courts and correctional institutions, and the way communities react to crime. Criminal justice employers at local, state and federal levels often expect or encourage a college degree, and some offer extra pay for it. Careers include law enforcement, private investigation, security, corrections, probation and parole, juvenile counseling and protective services. After completing the degree, students have basic knowledge for entry into many agencies. They may also apply coursework toward a bachelor's degree. Outcomes emphasize the judicial process and due process. Graduates learn to explain the components of the justice system and the judicial process, so they can move into agencies or continue toward a four-year degree.
