AA/AS in Computer Science

This Associate of Science targets students who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in computer science or computer software engineering, either at South Texas College or at another university. It also readies learners for entry-level computing work. The plan concentrates on programming and general education. Students study program logic and algorithm design, object-oriented development and assembly language. Students who choose this transfer major are urged to meet with a program adviser, since receiving schools set different lower-division requirements and completing the degree does not promise that every course will be accepted. Learning goals include analyzing program logic, applying programming fundamentals, describing and implementing algorithms and building applications with object-oriented methods and assembly language. Core courses in the plan fill out the general education portion of the credential.
