Anthropology covers human origins, development, cultures, and creativity. Students carry out archaeological, biological, and cultural analysis and gain skills through experiential and service learning, with emphasis on critical thinking, scientific literacy, and ethical reasoning.
Graduates become archaeologists in government and private work, forensic scientists, museum educators and curators, park service interpreters, user-experience researchers, and nonprofit development staff. Some continue to doctoral study in archaeology or biological anthropology. The major is in the Department of History, Sociology, and Anthropology.
