PhD in Ecology, Evolution, Systematics, and Population Biology

The PhD in Ecology and Evolution is offered by a department and graduate group that say they were the earliest of their kind in the country, and other institutions have copied their model. The program combines ideas from the two fields. Faculty and students do fieldwork locally and globally, from Alaska to Antarctica, studying terrestrial, freshwater and marine organisms from fish to fungi. Research uses experimental, comparative, theoretical and statistical approaches in the field, laboratory and literature.
