Students who want a recognized credential in population health without committing to a full master's program can look at this online certificate. The Julia Jones Matthews school for population health designed it for two groups: people who already hold a graduate degree in another field, and people who are unsure about pursuing one.
The curriculum introduces the central disciplines of public health and stresses how they fit together when applied to real community problems. Twelve credit hours make up the whole certificate. Should a student decide to continue, those same courses may be credited toward the longer Master of Public Health, which requires forty-five hours.
Applicants submit materials through the centralized SOPHAS Express system, pay a modest supplemental fee, and arrange for official transcripts from every school attended to be sent directly. New students may start in the spring, summer or fall, and the fall deadline falls at the start of August. The school's contact person can answer questions about courses and entry requirements.
