The Master of Science in Materials Engineering belongs to a multidisciplinary graduate program that prepares students for careers developing and manufacturing micro- and nanoscale materials, processes and devices. Relevant industries include biosensing, photonics, telecommunications, microelectronics and MEMS.
Entering students are grouped into cohorts from June to the following May, and cohort members work together and receive professional-group training during their first two years. The approach grew out of earlier federally funded education projects. Students are typically full-time and on campus, though arrangements can sometimes be made for part-time professionals living elsewhere. Concentrations include biological materials and devices.
Prospective applicants should contact the graduate coordinator or program office to confirm current admission steps, deadlines and program-specific policies before applying. Study takes place on the Fayetteville campus of the University of Arkansas, and the Graduate School handles the formal application.
