Doctoral study in Chemical Engineering at USF centers on reacting systems, thermodynamics, transport phenomena and systems engineering, with work in biomedical, microelectronic materials and environmental areas. Collaboration with the College of Medicine and several engineering and science departments makes the major interdisciplinary.
The department provides core courses in thermodynamics, transport, reacting systems, mathematics and process analysis and modeling, plus a wide selection of electives within the department and across the university.
Departmental laboratories support work on polymers, supercritical fluids, life sciences, control of processes, instrumentation, computer-aided design of processes and phase behavior. Applicants should review the catalog for admission information. Prospective students should check the current graduate catalog for contacts, deadlines and delivery information, and confirm that the general graduate admission and English proficiency rules of the university are also satisfied before they apply to this major.
