MA/MS in Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences offers a non-thesis Master of Arts alongside its Master of Science and doctoral degrees, and the M.A. shares core requirements with the M.S. The graduate faculty consists of experienced senior members who all hold doctorates. The department combines a broad range of courses with strong research facilities, so students can shape a plan of study around their own needs while keeping a sound base in all general areas of chemistry. A favorable ratio of students to faculty supports advanced study. The catalog page lists the major research areas and the detailed admission and curriculum requirements. Prospective students can find contacts, deadlines, delivery details and the full curriculum for the M.A. in the 2026-2027 Graduate Catalog, and should review them together with the university's general graduate admission policies before applying. Students interested in this degree are encouraged to contact the department directly with questions about fit, funding and timelines.
