BA/BS in Architectural Design

This degree is a pre-professional route for students who intend to pursue a professional Master of Architecture, which is needed for licensure as an architect. It forms part of the College of Built Environments. Students are admitted as juniors through a competitive process, once they have spent two years on general university requirements and the prerequisites for the program. Once in, they take six quarters of studio design work, alongside courses on building systems and architectural theory. The design abilities acquired are useful for moving on to other related fields as well as to architecture itself, so graduates have options beyond the professional master's route. Prospective students should plan their first two years around the required general courses so they are ready to apply for junior-level entry.
