Cert in Dance

Dance training at Milwaukee combines strong instruction, community involvement and many chances to perform and choreograph. The department offers three distinct degrees for different goals. The bachelor of fine arts is demanding and readies students to dance and to create original choreography for stage productions. The bachelor of arts prepares graduates to teach in community settings such as schools, recreation centers and fitness clubs. A low-residency master of fine arts is built around the schedules of working professionals, combining intensive sessions on site with independent research and creative work. Together these programs let students pursue performance, teaching or advanced artistic practice, and they offer a route from undergraduate training into a lasting career in the field of dance. Students completing any of the three can show employers or auditions panels a record of sustained studio and stage work.
