Utah State holds the sole farming-oriented plant science graduate degrees in Utah. They cover plant biology, genetics and management for crop and horticultural production, with attention to Western problems such as invasive weeds and organic farming in dry climates.
Every student follows a customized plan of study and works closely with faculty on research. Research areas include plant physiology, genetics, molecular biology, breeding, and crop and forage production. The master's can be earned through one of two plan options.
The program is part of the Quinney agriculture college at Logan and shares its page with the doctorate. Applicants without a background in plants, soils or biometeorology may need undergraduate prerequisites before admission.
Prospective students begin with the university application and then follow the department's own steps, and the official degree page lists the details for applicants from abroad.
